Episode #3 – Hall of Fame Induction 2010

August 8th, 2010

My thoughts on what it means to be a part of the NFL Hall of Fame.

  • Jaime Ciaccia

Joe, you made football for me and my family, and to paraphrase and old saying, you may have been number 12 in the program, but you were, still are, and always will be number 1 with the Ciaccia family in Rochester, N.Y. Thanks, Joe!!

Hey Joe, Just a quick note to say how great it was to “say hi” after..28,29,30? years…when I stopped by at the football camp in July…You looked great and brought back many memories. I was so sorry to hear that Jack (Hoot Owl) was no longer with us. I looked around for him when I arrived..had a feeling..I don't know any details, but hope he went peacefully.
Didn't he make the best hush puppies? Still have a stuffed owl he gave me,like he could be forgotten! He made us all laugh. I'm sure you miss him and again, I am so sorry for your loss.
I bought in The Greens in Melville, NY…had my fill of New Mexico and left Laguna Niguel 10 years ago…came back home. How's Jimmy (Walsh)…see what happens when you reminisce ? All good.
    Take care,
    Cherry

Your acceptance speech still remains in my memory as one of the most heartfelt and emotional ones I have watched. When you thanked Coach & Mrs. Brynt, while choking back tears, we all cried for you. Congratulations on 25 years, Superstar and I will be watching with TIDE PRIDE tonight!!

That was fun. Stats and injuries aside, just on talent, who would you take first, Emmitt Smith or Gale Sayers? I take Sayers, but I'm biased against the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Mike Jones

Let me personally invite my boyhood idol and the ORIGINAL MOD ABOUT TOWN guy himself to my event in March – 'MOD MIAMI' – the same city Joe brought us our best memory as Jet fans. Check it out at modmiami.com and hope to see you in Miami (frun coat and bell bottoms MOST welcome ;)

Joe, this weekend was great. I'm 67 yrs old, so I was lucky enough to see them play. Great memories! The question I have is, when is Kenny Stabler going to be recognized?

  • john

Joe. I love ya, I wanted to be you when I was 12. I knew your guarantee was legit cause I watched you guys as much as an old black and white TV would let me. I thought I had a stroke when Heide struck the screen, but I made it. Your Jets played ball! It was jump-starting my life watching your fireworks. I saw you in the Orange Bowl on Monday Night in 73, you took it up and down the field , but lost, you were a 1 man team at that point. You're at the top of my list, along with another PA Joe, Montana, may God continue too bless you.

Braved many 20 degree days ( those were the only tickets I could get) to watch you play. Was well worth it. Loved a game one gorgeous fall day when I sat in the bleachers and watched you trounce Miami! You're a great guy. Hope to meet you one day. Please post in advance where you will make appearances. Best wishes to you.

Hey Joe, When I was in high school Mrs Burchfield was my teacher, she used to always tell stories of how you stayed and ate with her and her sister

Hi Joe, I love this site! Don't know if you read all these comments But if you do would you please email me? My nephews new son Jake arrived earlier than expected and I was hoping to get an autographed photo for him and his big brothers, Matt and Andrew. I brought their Daddy to meet you when he was six years old and he still has the photo I took of you two together. The Boys are now six yrs, three yrs and 1 week old. But already are Jets season ticket holders!:) My nephew Bill and his wife Elizabeth are raising them right!
By the way , little Jake is only 2 pounds and six ounces but he's out of ICU and doing well. It would mean alot to me to hear from you Joe. Love you always, Joanie
