NFL DRAFT DAY, With Joe Namath! “5 1st Rounders from the Crimson Tide”?!

I’ve been reflecting on the NFL draft from Yesteryear in comparison to today’s draft. Back in our day, there was much less analysis, no combines…heck, I don’t even remember how many rounds there were!! Noone came and talked to us beforehand, we got a phone call when it was over! I don’t think many of us even remember when draft day took place…but then again there were 2 leagues:)
Today’s Draft: The sport is So good, and a Great sport for fans. so much has improved.
Coaches,players and all of the Draft information available. There are entire draft departments that work year round looking at prospects. The amount of video (film) that is available allows for much more analysis prior to draft day.
Let me tell you, the Hometown fans KNOW what the Home team needs.
I’m not sure if I like the “take the best player available regardless of needs” approach.
That could just be a decoy…The draft is a very competitive exercise
I am often asked about Andrew Luck. What I have seen with my own eyes, he is cool headed and can make all the throws. He appears to be what everyone says he is “A FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK”.
Speaking of Quarterbacks, I for one would be Thrilled with an Offensive Lineman being picked in the 1st round. I don’t know many QB’s who wouldn’t be thrilled with an OL 1st rounder. Wideouts are great but you need that pass protection to excel at a Championship level.
